SS17: BY THE POOL

By on April 29, 2017

This is the second of my Spring Summer holiday look book’s, shot in Tenerife. England is definitely letting us down weather wise (shock!), so there’s only one thing for it … book a holiday and take these outfits with you to ensure you are looking chic whilst relaxing by the pool. As you girls know, a truly efficient holiday wardrobe must include pieces that are versatile and capable of being worn more than once. To help you avoid a complete meltdown, and speed up the dreaded packing process, I have provided some vacay inspo! My top tips are: Take a maximum of 4 pairs of sandals/sliders (2 in black, 1 in nude and 1 in white), pack a bikini cover-up, always go for comfortable and be prepared for some much needed R&R.

My personal favourite spring trend, is the two-piece set. They are unbelievably versatile, you can either wear them as the full set or separate your two-piece and get extra wardrobe mileage out of them. The Bershka two-piece and New Look sliders which I have styled in this shoot are very easy to wear, it takes about 0.3 seconds to put this outfit on (well, maybe not, but it’s completely fuss free) and extremely comfortable. The elasticated bardot top and shorts mean there are no harsh seams which dig into the skin and the frill detailing and fresh mid-wash blue colour of this set makes it perfect for Summer.

I have named it in my top tips, and I definitely recommend taking a cover-up with you on holiday. Bikini cover-ups are perfect to slip on when you walk to the pool/beach and for your poolside selfie when your bikini has got a tad too tight by the end of your vacay. This rose gold tunic from Missguided is to die for, featuring a longline styling and thigh high splits. The metallic hues glow so beautifully in the sun! Rose gold is best when paired with a black bikini, if you want to wear a white bikini I would style with either a silver or sheer cover up.

As I’m sure many of you will have worked out by now, Zara is one of my favourite retailers for modern tailored styles. This sky blue dress with a cinched waist and flare detailed sleeves is ideal for summer evenings. Mini bags were a massive trend in the Spring of 2016, and it has carried over into this year’s season. Although you will have to halve the amount you carry around with you, your back and shoulders will thank you and  micro-bags are just too cute to ignore. Whether you opt for this Stradivarius tote, a clutch, satchel or backpack, make it mini and it’ll be your perfect holiday accessory.

SS17: IN THE CITY

By on April 20, 2017

If you didn’t already know from my spam of holiday pictures on Instagram, I was lucky enough to spend the last couple of weeks in Tenerife with my family. The temperature was in the high twenties and there was a constant flow of sangria, cocktails and sunbathing. As well as having a really hard time relaxing by the pool, we did visit the closest town of Los Gigantes and other surrounding areas, which meant I had to actually put on more than a bikini. Sucks right? Well maybe not so much, because summer street fashion is the main reason my wardrobe is close to bursting. This is the first of my holiday look books: a SS17 In The City Edit. Prepare for an overload of pink, effortless shirt dresses, the return of the bralette and fishnets still going strong.

.Shirt dresses have definitely become a timeless classic, the traditional style was a favourite of fashion icons like Audrey Hepburn and can easily be dressed up or down. Some designers have developed their own twist on the shirt dress, Céline have added edginess with puffy sleeves and metal zips. When styling one of these I would keep it simple. The crisp white Stradivarius shirt dress that I have photographed is perfect for the summer season. Due to the simplicity of this dress, I decided to accessorise with one of SS17’s biggest trends: a corset belt. What was once a key underwear piece, is now worn over dresses and T-shirts as the finishing touch and to cinch your waist.

So I did tell you to prepare for an overload of pink, the colour was all over the catwalks this show season. 28 of Valentino’s 64 looks were in all shades of blush! From fuchsia to bubblegum, to peach and everything in between, you are going to be seeing a lot of pink this SS17. With the whole of the pink rainbow to chose from, I opted for a baked mid-pink tone for this Zara suede effect dress. The simple cut and seam details on this shift dress make it appear effortless and bang on trend. I have styled the dress with a black detailed bra, black caged heels (the photographed ones are now sold out, shop similar here) and white bag to both brighten and add depth to the look.

If you have read my Athleisure x Daywear post then you will know about my obsession over everything fishnet. Their versatility and ability to make any look edgy make them a key styling statement. In Autumn/Winter it was all about oversized fishnet tights underneath mom jeans, however PrettyLittleThing have come up with the perfect summer alternative … fishnet shorts! Wear these under denim shorts for a daywear look that will  cause serious style envy, and if you’re feeling brave you can pair them with a slinky bodysuit and/or a cropped jumper. I paired these with a metallic bralette which is perfect for your summer wardrobe, both bralettes and metallic colours are going to be making an appearance in all your favourite shops this SS17.
